Thank you. I should have written more about Yii, and with the impending review of a book more posts should be appearing.

These are some small and somewhat simple changes to make. I'm pretty sure I could accommodate that fairly easily. :)

Hello,

first of all ... thank you for the nice Software!

I have some questions...

Would it be possible to hide the "typ of measurement" in a kind of sub-menue which could be selected by the menue button?

Would it possible save the "typ of measurement" by checking it in the sub-menue?

Would it be possible to add the choice in the sub-menue to restart the app with the last values for age and height?

Would it be possible to add a "close-button" on the result screen to leave the app faster?

Thank you very much for you effort!

Kind regards!
Christian

Hi, I am Jitesh Gawali, and I work with Packt.

I seek reviewers for the book recently released by Packt: Yii 1.1 Application Development Cookbook, by Alexander Makarov. More information about the book can be found here: http://www.packtpub.com/yii-1-1-using-php-framework-application-development-cookbook/book

If you interested in reviewing the book, then I'd be glad to send you an e-copy of it. You can contact me on jiteshg@packtpub.com for more details.

Thanks!

Actually I <em>did</em> get it to work in NetBeans, and I was working on a guide for it, but I never actually completed it, since I ended up moving on to other things. More specifically, I kept running into a wall with Eve, where I couldn't figure out what to do, so in the end I just stopped worrying about it. Besides, I moved on to Android, which I find to be far better in many ways, but I suppose that's a question of personal preference.

Anyway, if you wish to explore this further, I can certainly help you along. I wrote the beginning part of the tutorial for it, and should be able to finish it for you, but it won't be until I'm back home, since my little netbook isn't too happy about running NetBeans. It can run it, but it's terribly slow.

well, IMHO the best way to learn something is to actually do it. my first Yii "exposure" was a project with a client. imagine that! i barely even mastered php, i haven't even tackled PHP classes at that time, yet i was forced to. Yii is an Object Oriented Programming framework... and most of the time i spent my time scratching my head and browsing the forums.. i mean I HAD NO IDEA WHATSOEVER. Many times i wanted to give the project up, but then after a few sleepless nights and a million dozes of decaf coffee, i managed to get the hang of it.. Yii is really fast, and by fast i mean like it generates Models, controllers, views, and modules for you! no more brain-hurting hardcoding. well there still is, but the point here is, if you want to learn I suggest trying to learn with intense pressure. In this way you might push yourself beyond what you think you could actually do. :)

kudos!

@mahdi: Which problem? I didn't have a problem with the amount of tutorials available for it. There's quite a lot available, or rather, not a lot, but both the blog tutorial and the definitive guide are rather long and thorough. :)
